Profile photo

Shown as a circle: large on your profile header, small next to your name across the app.

Only the inscribed circle is ever visible — the corners are always cut. Keep your logo or face inside it, with a little breathing room: at small sizes anything touching the edge feels cramped.

Profile cover (header)

The wide photo behind your name at the top of your profile.

Two zones to respect: on phones the card is taller than the image, so the left and right edges crop away — keep anything important in the central area. And the bottom strip sits under a dark gradient with your avatar and name on top, so don't place text there.

Space thumbnail

The tile of a space in your profile mosaic, in Saved and on the share card. It is chosen on its own (Upload thumbnail) and does not have to appear inside the space.

The mosaic shows every thumbnail at exactly 3:4 — an image designed at that ratio appears complete, nothing lost; any other ratio is cropped to fit. Small icons at the bottom-right corner may sit over the image (video/file hints). Photos inside the space are a different thing: they keep their own ratio and quality (1080p or 4K).

Getting the best quality

  • Upload the freshly exported file. Export from your editor at maximum quality (PNG or JPEG 100%) and upload that. Joinier compresses once, with the settings above — re-saving a JPEG over a JPEG stacks compression and blurs detail.
  • Photo quality is chosen when you upload a photo to a space (1080p or 4K) and can't be changed later: the original file never leaves your device. If a piece matters, pick 4K at that moment.
  • Bigger than 2560 px brings nothing. No screen shows the difference, it only spends your storage.
  • Logos and fine text survive compression best as big, flat shapes. Hairline strokes and small text may soften — if your art is text-heavy, upload it in high quality.
  • Video follows the same idea: 1080p uploads at 1920 px on the longest side, 4K (Pro) at 3840 px. Always feed it your original file — compression happens on your device before upload.
